W.D.F.F. Unity Day

The Stoke Memorial Hall was packed for the annual Unity Day competitions of the Women's Division of Federated Farmers. The contests, ranging from decorated tables with a theme (this year "a popular song") to Hootenannies, were keenly fought and provided tremendous entertainment for the big crowd. We have covered on this page excerpts from three of the mimes. The one Above and at Left was a mime on the Golden Shears contest and was portrayed by the Tapawera-Tadmore division. This was an absolutely terrific performance and undoubtedly earned it the first place. The other two were "apple picking" (Below Left) by Tasman-Mariri and the hat shop (Below) by Redwoods Valley.
