King-Size Recap

Under normal circumstances there would be room for one more on the van. But Des Broughton, Wayne Scelen and Ken Sowman, seen Above attempting a lift, had no show of putting this giant tyre on their van. The tyre is a 29.5 x 29, 28-ply job off a West Coast earth mover. It came into Reliance for a recap and was sent to the company's North Island plant where such giants are handled. The recap cost the owners $743! Terrific price, isn't it. But the cost of a new tyre would be $1352. Some idea of how big this tyre is can be gauged from the mini-tyre held by Richard Russell, having a quiet rest inside the giant at Left.
