Marchers protesting against New Zealand&'s involvement in the Vietnam war marched from Tahunanui to the Church Steps last month. At Left, a police car kept pace with the marchers, but there were no untoward incidents.

Residents in the Collingwood Street bridge area weren&'t very happy to see raw sewage emerging from a pipeline into the Maitai River recently and we received a couple of complaints about it. However, upon investigation we found that this deliberate action by the Council was quite unavoidable. At one stage the contractor on the big sewerage scheme, with one line blocked, was faced with flooding homes in the Hardy Street area or letting the sewage discharge into the river. The whole area has since been cleaned up and the pipe plugged, we were told by the city health inspector, Mr E. W. Lock.
