Mr Karl Wilkens, well known in bowling circles throughout the country, and equally well known by Post Office staff, retired from the department after 42 years' service recently. Karl began work with the department as a telegram delivery boy in Wakefield in 1928. He has been supervisor of personnel at Nelson since 1961. He is seen here after being presented with an electric shaver and binoculars by the Chief Postmaster (Mr C. J. W. Murphy). The presentation was made on behalf of staff throughout the district.
