Western Gymkhana

Riding, western style, is encouraged by a group of young horsemen and women in Nelson. Recently the group held a western-style gymkhana in the Maitai Valley. Many of the events were of the usual variety show jumping, barrel races, rescue races and the like, but here and there those taking part indulged in some un-hunt-like riding. But the general view was a tremendous amount of fun for both horses and riders.
