We were intrigued by these two white-breasted shags apparently sunning themselves on the piles at the port. They stayed in this position for at least 10 minutes. We have been told that they assume this position to dry their wings, but there is another body of opinion which says this position aids their digestive processes. Main thing it - they made a fine picture for us.

Every year a few white herons can be seen on local waters. This one was spotted in the Bests Island area.

These two late-model Holdens had a slight altercation on the Bishopdale Hill recently. It ended with a kerunch. Nobody hurt, but two badlybent vehicles.
