Speedway Racing at Nelson
Something new in the way of motorcycle racing in Nelson was displayed to a big crowd during Easter when a speedway-style meeting was held on a sand track at Wakapuaka. About 30 events were held on a 440-yard track. The most intriguing racing for the crowd were the side-car events. These were quite spectacular.
Christchurch speedway racers, Merv Salt, ger Black and Tom Hall, take a bend in best speedway style.
While driver lan Begbie provides the power, pillion rider Gordon Freeman provides the balance and skill to negotiate a bend.
