They Danced all Day and all Night

The 1970 Easter ballroom dancing championships of the Nelson Amateur Ballroom Dancing Association were an unqualified success. Big entries, including juveniles for the first time, were matched only by the crowds which packed the Y.M.C.A. for the all-day and evening session on the Saturday, and the evening session on the Sunday. Queen of the ballroom this year was Miss Gloria King, of Auckland, seen at Top Left with second and third placegetters, Pamela Montgomery (left) and Gaile French, both of Nelson. Above is a picture of Miss King and her partner, Liam O'Reilly. Liam is a son of Dr and Mrs W. O'Reilly, Ngawhatu Hospital. All Queen of the Ballroom entrants late shown at LEFT.
