King Neptune's Day

King Neptune came ashore at Tahunanui Beach early last month to rule over the Tahunanui Surf Life Saving Club's annual carnival day. He appeared a little slimmer than of yore and his moustache not quite as luxuriant. But he was as affable as usual. Sand modelling, beach races for the kiddies and beauty contests for all ages provided the main attractions for the big crowd on the beach. Above are the finalists in the "Miss Tahunanui" contest. From left they are Jillian Wood (Nel), Rosslyn Beattie (Wgton) 3rd, Anne Blance (Chch), Glenda Burns (Wgton) 1st, Nanette Haack (Nel), Anne Joli (Chen), and Liana Osborne (Dunedin), 2nd.
