Variety at Picnic Races

Light harness and pony racing, horse jumping, a parade by entrants in the Nelson Pastoral Queen contest, lolly scrambles for the children and a flutter on the races. All these things added spice to the picnic race meeting at the Richmond Showgrounds. Winner of the Pastoral Queen contest was Helena Wren (left), a 21-year-old school teacher. The entrants (Above) were Denny Goidie, Robyn Barnett, Helena Wren, Janet Tricklebank, Pam Owen, Elizabeth Askin and Lesley Whitticase.
