Nelson lost a very enthusiastic and hard-working Diocesan hospital chaplain with the shift to Greymouth of the Rev. Malcolm Welch. He was recently inducted as Vicar of Greymouth. The family (wife Valetta, children Petrina, and Grant and Bronwyn) had been in Nelson only two years.

Two very well known Nelson identities, "Mac" and Effie McDonald, have left the district - Effie after a lifetime here. Mac is the Lime and Marble Company's Christchurch manager. He was well known in Nelson sports circles.

New arrivals, living at Waimea West, are Janet and Len Cox, and children Stephen, Sheena and Mara. They're from Lower Hutt. Len is a linesman with the Post Office and a keen gardener, and Janet is a spinner and weaver.

From Reefton to Nelson have come Miss Ruth Fraser and her father, Les Fraser. Miss Fraser, matron of Reefton Hospital, is the new assistant-matron of Nelson Public Hospital. They're living at 315 Main Road, Annesbrook.
