Sport, for Youngsters and Parents

Throughout New Zealand, Saturday mornings, during the winter at least, are the junior sportsmen's mornings, Rugby, hockey, and soccer fields are swarming with youngsters, all arrayed in spick and span uniforms, and they charge up and down the fields having a simply marvellous time while the parents who take the bother (and few do) to follow the teams, charge up and down the sidelines offering advice. And Nelson is certainly no exception.

Here we have a few pix, taken at random on recent Saturday mornings. Above: Waimea North and South teams met at Richmond where South won 19-3. Our pix show a lineout (top left) With forwards awaiting the ball; Waimea South on the rampage (top right), and a try for Waimea North (above). At left, girls' hockey, and a coach offers advice to the Rewa junior side at half time.
