Preparing for Winter

×

Members of the Nelson Ski Club have been hard at work in recent weeks preparing for the coming skiing season. The club is extending its original hut (top right), tow ropes have been renewed, machine sheds built and all the little maintenance jobs like painting and tidying up, performed. These pix of a recent working bee at the lodge sites were taken recently by Peter Cooper.

A blow to the Y.M.C.A. in Nelson is the resignation of its Nelson director, Mr Jack Hanna, seen here instructing Suzanne Perriam at the Nelson gym. Jack has been secretary and physical director of the association in Nelson for the last 15 years, and the organisation has blossomed under his supervision. He and his family leave Nelson early next month for the North Island.

Congratulations to Aileen Clements, of 24 Weka Street, who was awarded the B.E.M. in the Queen's Birthday Honours List. Mrs Clements received her award for services to the community, and all who know her will appreciate how deserving she was of this award. She has spent a lifetime serving others less fortunate.
