Short Cut To Motueka

Before very much longer the final stages of forming the approaches to the new causeway across the Moutere inlet to Motueka will be undertaken by the contractors. When these pictures were taken last month, the approach on the eastern bank was being built up and at the rate at which the filling is being moved, the job should be completed by the target date - the end of May. The picture above shows the eastern approach to the bridge and that below, a view from the bridge back to the coastal road. At left, trucks are loaded with filling gouged from a hillside a few hundred yards from the bridge.
