Richmond Queen Crowned
Barbara is crowned by the Mayoress, Mrs McGlashen.
Nineteen-year-old Barbara Hall, the Waimea Old Boys' Rugby Club's Queen, was crowned Queen of Richmond at a coronation ceremony at the end of the six weeks of fund raising in the town. Barbara won a crown and a $100 first prize. Among them, the four organisations concerned in the carnival raised $4352, the Rugby club winning with $2120.
The other Queens were Mrs Myrtle Lammis (Waimea R.S.A.), Linda Inwood (Soccer), and Julienne Chan (Highland Pipe Band) who was second.
Waiting with their balance sheets for the outcome were the presidents of the soccer (Dennis Gallagher), pipe band (Ron Growcott), the R.S.A. (Jim Trigger) and the Rugby club (Maurie Childs).
