Lions' Braille Week Appeal
During the recently-held National Braille Week, the Gisbone Lions Club raised £1330 for the Blind Foundation from a telephone appeal.
Operating from several business houses in the city, and from the Post Office, members of the Lions Club and their supporters telephoned almost every household listed in the telephone directory in a period of less than three hours.
Mr Sam Burborough, assisted by his wife, 'phoning from his station at Williams and Kettle Ltd.
The central office for the appeal was Mortimer's Garage, where the organiser, Mick Sheridan, and his assistant, Reece Jones, directed operations.
