Thrills, Spills On Skates

In recent months, the sport of roller skating in Gisborne has increased its number of followers considerably, with more and more young people deriving endless hours of pleasure from skating round the club's concrete rink in Alfred Cox Park, Grey Street.

Roller hockey is also proving very popular and the club now boasts two senior, one intermediate, and two junior teams In both male and female departments.

"Photo News" went along to the skating club's popular teenage night, which is held every Wednesday, to capture these pictures of thrills and spills on skates.

The "statue" event, which requires skaters to stop dead at a break in the music, creates havoc among less experienced participants.
