"Miss New Zealand" In Gisborne

Probably the most charming, natural, and unaffected notable visitor to Gisborne for several years was "Miss New Zealand 1962", Miss Maureen Kingi, who spent several enjoyable days here while appearing in Joe Brown's "Miss New Zealand Spectacular" stage show.

Gisborne hospitality being what it is, Miss Kingi found herself entertained by a full programme of social events, most notable of which was the warm welcome given her by the Maori people of Gisborne in the Poho--o-Rawlri meeting house.
