Anglican Presentation Ball Debutantes

There were nine debutantes presented to the Bishop of Aotearoa, the Rt. Rev, W. N'. Panapa, at the annual Anglican Presentation Ball in the Army Hall, Fitzherbert Street. The hall was beautifully decorated, with a combination of palm fronds and "night scenes" alternated round the wails, and a mass of greenery through which twined rows of coloured lights suspended from the ceiling. Large parchment lanterns, with silhouettes of period dancers, were also featured. Long troughs of poinsettlas and kniphofla surrounded the official dais, which was backed by midnight blue drapes centring on an enormous silver star.

The debutantes were escorted to the dais by their mothers, where they curtsied to the Bishop, and then moved slowly to their respective positions on the top of the dais where they all made a graceful mass-curtsy.

On leaving, they were met by their fathers, who formally Introduced them to His Lordship, and then escorted them to their partners. They then danced the debutantes' waltz to the music of "The Druids Prayer", forming a guard of honour for the official party at its conclusion.
