Tops in Pops
Top New Zealand recording stars, Bill and Boyd, Lou and Simon. Bob Paris and the Embers, and Rod (Kiwi Train; Derrett, along with Australian singer, Lonnie Lee, recently visited Gisborne for the Philips "Startime 1962" stageshow, which played to a capacity house at the Opera Kouse recently.
For popular guitarist, Bob Paris, the show was something of a family affair, with his attractive wife, Jayne Southern, filling the female vocal spot. Accompanying them on tour was their two-year-old daughter, Margo Lee.
The Embers Band supplied an excellent musical backing. They are: Keith Graham (bass), Bob Paris (lead), Tony Hopkins (drums), Brian Smith (sax), and Mick Dawson (piano).
