The Autumn Carnival

An interesting variety of ring events, an excellent attendance, and perfect weather conditions combined to make the Poverty Bay Agricultural and Pastoral Association's twelfth Autumn Carnival an outstanding success.

The sideshows, with their gay carnival atmosphere, once again proved their popularity with the younger people and were continually in action throughout the day.

The large number of entries in the trotting races, which monopolized the ring events, had a large and enthusiastic following. Jeep skin racing and wild cow milking provided plenty of excitement, while cycling, school relays, and Pony Club events were entertainment of a less dangerous nature.

The Carnival was brought to a close with an aeroplane making several low runs over the grounds and dropping lollies to the hundreds of children below.
