Boys' High School Athletics

The Gisborne Boy's High School recently held their annual athletic sports in bright sunshine at the Rectory Field.

The highlight of the day was the senior mile event in which a record was broken by Alan Saunders with a tine of 4min. 38.9sec. In the half-mile, Saunders came within .6sec. of the record made by M. Johns in 1926.

The senior champion, Max Walker, threw the discus 129ft. 9ins. to beat the record set by. M. Roderick in 1950 by 6ins.
