Matawhero Sports

Country people from the Poverty Bay district recently spent an enjoyable day at the annual Matawhero Sports Meet-ing at Ernie Langford's property, Matawhero.

An extensive programme offered a wide variety of entertainment including horse and pony events, sideshows, chopping, national dancing, and a baby show.

Although weather conditions were not altogether favourable, the large attendance and the well-organised programme made the meeting a most successful one.
