Margaret Whitehead, who played Liat the native girl in the recent Operatic Society presentation of "South Pacific", is the subject for our colour cover this issue, photographed against a background of wistaria at the home of Mr and Mrs C. W. Sebire, 33 Carnarvon Street.

Back Cover October weather had a touch of old-time Gisborne weather about it, and the heat had us digging in the files for this typical view of Waikanae Beach taken last summer.

The Median Strip. Work is progressing apace in upper Gladstone Road with the reconstruction of the city entrance. Minus the familiar palms, but with promise of future ornamentation down the middle of the road, in the form of shrubs planted in the "Median Strip".
