When little Richard Dawson was born, 11½ months before this picture was taken, he weighed oniy 2¼ lbs. As a premature baby, he had to stay in hospital for nine weeks, some of which he spent in the "incubator". Now Richard is a chubby 171b 14oz and doing well, which just goes to show what love and care will do. He is the son of Mr and Mrs John Dawson, 12 Oman Road, Kaiti.

The well-known N.Z. athletic coach, Mr Arthur Lydiard, was a visitor to Gisborne last month, and is seen here at Station 2XG with the president of the Gisborae Amateur Athletic Club, Mr W. Carmichael.

About 164 elderly people were taken for a car run by members of the Victoria League. Afternoon tea was served at the Tatapouri Hotel, where this picture was taken by Mr C. Recter.

Hosking, secretary of the Federation, who visited Gisborne while on a sponsored tour of New Zealand, are seen here with the P.R.O., Mr Clarke, after inspecting a railway engine. They had never seen railways before coming here.
