With every muscle straining Bruce Donnelly and Alan Saunders race for the finish line in the open three miles harrier race at a recent Amateur Athletics meet.
Bruce, who has just completed a very satisfactory harrier season, has plans to live in Auckland where he will meet stronger opposition.
Alan Saunders, the brilliant 15-year-old, finished his first season of harrier running unbeaten, an outstanding achievement for a beginner. With the track season barely under way Saunders has already run a mile in 4 min. 40secs. and an 880yards in 2min. 10.4 sec.
With these outstanding records as an indication it would appear that young Alan Saunders has an extremely promising future.
