Our picture from the past this month shows the Pakarae Hotel in its palmy days, before it was moved to Whangara. Those were the days when the coaches came in with horses lathered in sweat, and the passengers had thirsts to match the arduous journey up the coast. (Pic from Mr George Chrisp).
