Big Clean-up On The Beach

A big difference was made in one day on Waikanae Beach recently when more than 200 members of young people's organisations attacked the task of cleaning up flood debris.

They were members of clubs affiliated to the Greater Gisborne Youth Action Committee, and the effort was organised in association with the Public Relations Office.

Working in a bitterly cold southerly, with axes, saws, rakes and other implements, the young people set on the job with a will, and soon had the beach looking tidier. Cranes, trucks and a bulldozer helped remove the larger logs.
