£50,000 Worth

If you're a Gisborne ratepayer, then take a look at some of the machinery you own...£50,000 worth of it. In this picture, lined up for the "Photo News" camera, is almost the entire mechanical plant of the Gisborne City Council..... graders, loaders, rollers, and behind them, the trucks.

Purchases of plant (this past year amounting to £25,000) are made from earnings, so that no loans are required, or charges on the rates. A policy of regular replacement has ensured that all plant is up-to-date and in good shape for the council's heavy works programme.
