The late Weti Te Ao Tamihana (Thompson), one of the four sons of the late Mr and Mrs Apiha (Geo.) Thompson, of Mangaheia, Tolaga Bay. A member of the Maori Battalion, Weti (known also as "Trader Horn") was killed in action in Tunisia, is commemorated in an annual cycle race from Tolaga to Whangara.
