Massive Girder:

Huntin', Shoot in'. and Fishin'

×

Enormous girder, 100 feet long, looks like an overhead bridge across Grey Street as it is manoeuvred out of the Gisborne railway station yard. Made in Dannevirke, the 18-ton bridge section was bound for Barron's Bridge in the Waikohu County.

Transferring the girder from the railway flat cars which brought it from Dannevirke to the motor vehicles... one at each end...which took it to Whatatutu.

Best head of the season so far to come to our notice is this 14-pointer stag shot by Sol Babbington, Gisborne, seen with his Easter trophy at Tapere, up from Matawai.

A good line-up of trout caught with the fly in a local river by E. and J. Goodwin, Albert Street. Largest was 5½ lb and smallest 2lbs.

R. M. Waddell, Mangaotane Station, Whatatutu, caught this massive stingray 12ft offshore at Pouawa. That's a 2oz baccy packet on top for comparison.
