Mr George Emms, Gisborne maker of fine furniture, is remembered in a number of the homes of New Zealand's famous figures, When Sir Edmund Hillary returned from Mt. Everest, it was to find a presentation chair, bearing some resemblance to the great mountain, waiting for him. Now New Zealand's most famous triumvirate of the athletic world, Snell, Halberg and Magee, are able to settle down at home in an Emms chair, each of which carries in its design a symbol of the Olympic games.
Here are the famous three, seated in their chairs, at the presentation at Auckland recently.
From the left: Peter Snell, gold medallist; Murray Halberg, gold medallist; and Barry Magee, silver medallist.
