"The Show"
The A. and P. Association once again demonstrated its proverbial luck with the weather for this year. In spite of weather forecasts sprinkled with phrases like "persistent rain" and "frequent showers", the show was blessed with two perfect days of sunshine and cool winds, and suffered only a few spots of rain on the first day.
Fed up with long spells of gloomy weather, the Poverty Bay public responded by turning out in thousands for the district's largest annual outing.

For many of those who attended the show, the attractions of the trade exhibits and sideshow alley took all their interest, to the exclusion of the very fine displays of Jumping seen in the showring.
Jumping of an exceptionally high standard kept the ringside crowds excited and thrilled in the difficult International Jump. There was very little difference in the final between R. B. Hansen's Sundowner and C. Matthews' Syndicate. They are each pictured below clearing the final "triple" jump. Hansen won the title by a small margin.
