Archers In The Park

With the weather behaving at its very best, conditions could be called idyllic for archery when members of the Gisborne and Richmondvale (H.B.) clubs met in Anzac Park for the annual Stoneham Cup contest.

The teams taking part in a Clout Shoot. This is the oldest form of archery, deriving from the days when the bowmen had to shoot over a moat and wall into a castle. Contestants are required to shoot over 140 yards on to a small target area marked by a flag.

Recovering arrows near the flag.
