Exhibition of Paintings

A fine exhibition of paintings by two of Gisborne's leading artists, P. W. Williams and A. Christie, was opened in the Art Gallery last month, and attracted widespread interest. There were 50 oil paintings by Mr Williams on show, and 58 oil and water colour works by Mr Christie, which combined to make a most interesting collection. Included was the painting by Mr Williams which won a merit award in the Kelliher Art Exhibition, and which was later purchased by Mr Kelliher. This, entitled "Summer Brilliance", is reproduced. Above is a reproduction of one of Mr Christie's oil paintings, entitled "Lake Hayes".
