An informal snap of Post Office officials at the recent farewell function for the chief postmaster, Mr H. F. Alen. Retiring after a long and varied Post Office career, including previous terms in the district, and nine years in the inspection division, Mr Alen was the recipient of several gifts, and many eulogistic references. Left to right, Mr C. E. Earle, relieving postmaster, Mr Alen, and Mr G. W. Tyer, senior resident engineer. Mr Tyer is due to leave early in the new year on transfer to Wellington.
