"Tele-Views" of Local Quiz

Television seems a long way off to Gisborne residents, but time passes and it won't be long before we are all suffering from "Square eyes", from sitting in the dark staring at the little oblong screen with the rounded corners.

Among the first local programmes to be televised would likely be relatively simple shows like quiz sessions in the studio.

The pictures on these two pages give some indication of how the contestants, the quiz master, and the studio audience would look on your television screen.

They were taken by "Photo News" at a recent session of the Kandid Kamera Kraft £50 Quiz. (2×G, Fridays, 7 p.m.)

Contestants were the Kuri Kads and the Savings Bank. Phil May was Quiz Master, and Jim Nation timekeeper.

For Savings Bank, Jack Adeane (centre) is deep in thought as he searches for an answer. The expressions on the faces of his team-mates, Peter Dow (left) and Perc Williams, might suggest that they already know it.

Studio audience applauds a correct answer. Much of the success of a quiz session depends on the quiz master, and Phil May has built up a big following with his Friday night feature.
