Caving at Maru Maru

Youth Hostel Association members became *Troglodytes on a recent visit to the Maru Maru caves, which are about five miles up the Mangapoike River from its junction with the Wairoa River. The trip was made in late August.

The main cave is about 300 yards long, with a number of subsidiary caves coming in at different levels.
