A recent picture taken on the Motu Road, linking Matawai and the coast, and suggested at one stage as an alternative when the Waioeka Gorge Road is closed for construction work. However, after an inspection, the A. A. decided it was fit only for experienced drivers. The difference in time between the two routes is about an hour.

Now we don't want to get Jack Gooch into trouble with his wife, but this pic is too good to leave out. While models were having their hair coiffured at a demonstration, Jack was next door helping to entertain stock-buyers. Jack had a pretty good hair-do too, so we brought him in and posed him up with the girls. His hair-do? We forgot to ask him to remove his hat!
