Unusual Visitors

Gisborne had its share of unusual visitors last month. First, a white-painted little ship bearing a crew of dark-haired little men came sailing into port. It was the Japanese trawler Showamaru No.2, with a crewman suffering from appendicitis. He was promptly rushed to Cook Hospital.

Then another ever more unusual visitor arrived. It was none other than Sabrina, the elephant seal which spent some time atTolaga Baylast summer. Where she had been since she left Tolaga was a mystery, but she was obviously pleased to make Gisborne her home for a spell.

Further pictures of both visitors appear in this issue.
