Our Cover

For our December colour cover we asked Valerie Penny, of Parau Street, Kaiti, to pose against the soft-coloured background of the beach at Kaiti, where the outgoing tide had left limpid pools among the rocks.

Valerie is the first girl to make the cover of "Photo News" twice. She appeared previously in June, 1957, when she was keeping company with a budgerigar.

She was a member of the ballet in the recent "Oklahoma" show.

Back Cover: There are over 400 varieties of roses in the splendid display at the City Council's chambers. They were grown and donated by Mrs R. Orchiston, of Hexton.

On page 66 of this issue, the soccer team listed should have included the name of I. Gillies.
