Midget Motor Cars in Action

Gisborne motor-racing fans had their share of thrills on the new course at the showgrounds when the first of the season's midget car race meetings was held in perfect weather.

As usual, dust was the big problem during the day, both for the drivers and the public.

There was much interest in a demonstration by the diminutive go-karts and mo-peds, but in most respects their performance was disappointing compared with the more powerful midgets.

Four motor-cycle events were also held, and one of these included the incident illustrated on the next page.
