Successful Season

Whatever doubts might have been entertained by the Gisborne Operatic Society when it abandoned plans to produce "Kismet" for its annual show, and replaced it with the more modern "Oklahoma!". they were in the event entirely dispelled by the outstanding success which attended this year's presentation. All attendance records were broken, and the season had to be extended for two nights to accommodate all those who wanted to see the show. The total attendance was estimated at 10,000.

A capable cast of relative newcomers performed capably under the sure direction of Mrs Pat Woodford, and a small but effective orchestra under the baton of Mr Doug Dyer enhanced the presentation.
