Patrons of the races at Makaraka on Labour Weekend will notice that some improvements have been made recently at the course. Access to the big stand will be via a new steel-framed staircase seen in the picture being constructed. This replaces the old staircase which went up where the truck is standing, and crossed to the members' stand on a ramp.

A new ambulance room has also been provided at the north end of the members' stand.
