Indoor Basketball

Although handicapped by the uncertainties of their tenancy of the Army Hall, indoor basketballers in Gisborne have had a good season, and when "Photo News" called on the last playing night of the year, a full evening of knock-out competition games was in progress, with both men's and women's teams in action throughout.

About a dozen girls' teams were entered for this year's competitions.

As Vilma Dennis and Amy Lowe reach for the ball, the camera records a shot to intrigue photographers as well as basketballers. Note neon light tube apparently speared through ball. (Phenomenon is explained by differing speeds of shutter and flashlight related to movement of ball.)
