Fifty Mile Cycle Race

Neil Robinson, of Gisborne, a junior, riding off l3½min, won the Gisborne Amateur Cycling Club's big race of the year recently. Riders from Napier, Wairoa, and Whakatane competed with local riders in the race, which was of 50 miles from Kaiti up the East Coast to Waihau and return.

Robinson rode a fine race to outsprint Roy Harris, of Whakatane, and Alf Baker, of Wairoa, in the exciting finish.

Fastest time went to Lawrence Cook, of Napier, who broke his own record for the course by 2min 3sec. His time was 2hr 17min 9sec. Cook rode solo most of the way, and finished in fourth place.
