Farewells

"Robbie", as he is affectionately known to members and also to the radio public, has been secretary of the Car Club since its inception. He was also secretary of the Road Safety Committee. A Transport Dept. official, he is leaving on promotion.

Members of the Gisborne Car Club took the opportunity at a recent social evening to bid farewell to Mr and Mrs P. M. Robinson, who are leaving to reside in Hawkes Bay.

Mr E. Atkinson, assistant station master at Gisborne who has been transferred on promotion to the position of stationmaster at Levin. Mr Atkinson, who has been in Gisborne for ten years, has served a number of causes in Gisborne, and of recent times has been director of the Gisborne Museum.

Miss Mary Mahoney, a supervisor in the telephone exchange at Gisborne, retired recently after 35 years' service. She is photographed here at a complimentary social with three of her earlier contemporaries, Mrs Boys (left), Mrs Alen, and Miss Renner.

After 40 years service with the Maori Affairs Department, Mr R. C. Benson, assistant district officer at Gisborne, has retired. At a farewell function held at the Department offices, Mr Benson is seen with (at left) Messrs K. Sword, deputy registrar, and V. Holst, district officer, and (at right) Messrs S. S. Hardman, district solicitor, and N. W. Oliver, district accountant.
