New School Opened

A big step forward in the care and education of intellectually handicapped children was taken in Gisborne at the beginning of the month when a new and modern school especially designed and built for their use was opened at the corner of Bright and Kahutia streets.

After the children had settled down in their new environment, "Photo News" attended some of the classes to show how instruction is given by the teachers, Miss Patricia Morrison and her assistant, Miss Margaret Quirk.

The new school was built by Mr R. G. K. Johnstone.
