Football Finale

The Centurions won the season's Rugby finale by 28 points to 25, but it was anybody's game all the way. Both teams played the fast, open type of football which spectators like to see, and this time it produced a thrill almost every minute of the game.

The Centurions team included Peter Kay, of Gisborne, who has been playing for Wellington this season, as full back. Also in the team were All Blacks Don McIntosh, Peter Burke, Ian MacEwan, Ivan Vodanovich, and Doug. Wilson.

The P.B. team was as follows: P. Cowan; R. Johnstone, W. Aitken, R. R. Cossey, J. Stevenson, M. English; S. Rutene; J. Strang, D. Lamont, D. Eee, R. Bruce, H. Lardelli; A. Rowlands (captain), M. Horsfall, D. Green.

The match also marked the end of Bernie Wolstenholme's career as a Rugby referee. He has refereed 23 first–class games, including a test match and two provincial games against the touring Springboks.
