Forty-five more State housing units are to be built on what is known as the Queen's Road block, in Te Hapara. Already a number of the houses are under construction.
These pictures, taken late last month, show (above) a general view of part of the area. As the water table in parts of the block is high, the contractor for the sever mains, Mr W. Robertson, is operating a well-point plant to reduce the water level below work level in the trenches. The lengthy pipe installation and pump for this are shown in the photograph below.
